By leaking secret internal information of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB), its former detective Denysiuk exposed a deep crisis that reigns in the Bureau today and calls into question the entire anti-corruption system of the state, – wrote political expert Oleh Posternak in his blog.
"The case with Denysiuk is a case in point of how one person, due to his own unprofessionalism, with a single act exposed all the chaos, disorder and lawlessness in the body that was supposed to become a model of Ukrainian anti-corruption. But it didn't. And it is unlikely that it will ever happen. Another in a series of scandals with the Bureau indicates a more systemic crisis that calls into question the entire anti-corruption system of the state. As a result, Ukraine's donor states have natural questions: what are their funds being spent on and can Ukrainian anti-corruption institutions be trusted at all?" wrote Posternak.
He recalled that a few days ago, Detective Denysiuk publicly accused the NACB of "leaking" investigations into the procurement of drones.
"The detective publicly leaked internal information, which finally discredited the Bureau. According to representatives of the legal community, such an action of the detective is an attempt to hide the incapacity of the NACB and its lack of effective investigations of corruption in the security and defense sectors, as well as in many other areas of their competence," the expert said.
According to him, irreversible processes in the NACB were launched, in particular, by the victory of Republican Trump in the U.S. election.
"The team of the new head of America well remembers the statements of Ukrainian MPs, which stated that the former director of the NACB, Mr. Sytnyk, interfered in the election process on the side of Trump's opponent, Hillary Clinton, during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. All the time while Biden was in charge of the U.S., the NACB held on an honest American word and the support of Ukrainian grant-takers. After the change of power in the U.S., noticeable irreversible movements began in the NACB. The Bureau began to leak noticeably. Now what was previously known only to a narrow circle has leaked out: incompetence, rashness, leaks of secret information, etc.," he said.
As for Denysiuk himself, according to the expert, he began to play politics. Moreover, according to his information, the former detective says in conversations that he plans to become the director of the NACB.
"Denysiuk frankly admits that he did not cope with the work and is running away to the assistants of the head of the Verkhovna Rada's anti-corruption committee, parliamentarian Anastasia Radina. MP Radina is a former employee of the Anti-Corruption Center (Shabunin), which is supposed to control the NACB. And as a result, she is engaged in the employment of the NACB employees. That is, instead of control and integrity, some kind of anti-corruption "Swedish family" turned out," Posternak said.
As reported, former NACB detective Andrii Denysiuk sent a letter to his colleagues in which he called the reason for his dismissal the "leak" of investigations into the procurement of drones.
Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation registered a criminal case against the NACB Director Semen Kryvonos and his deputy Polina Lysenko for fraud during the competition for managerial positions in one of the Bureau's departments.
