On the night of Tuesday, January 28, the russian occupiers attacked the Cherkasy Region with strike drones, Ukrainian defenders managed to destroy 8 drones, but in the Uman district the enemy hit a critical infrastructure facility.
The head of the regional military administration Ihor Taburets announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
He said that in the Cherkasy Region, air defense forces had been repelling the enemy attack since night.
"In total, 8 Russian UAVs were destroyed in the Cherkasy sky. In these cases, there were no consequences. At the same time, the elimination of the consequences of the enemy strike on a critical infrastructure facility is ongoing in the Uman district," Taburets wrote.
He noted that all services are working to stabilize the situation in the utility sector as soon as possible.
To coordinate actions on the spot, a headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of the emergency situation has been deployed.
Meanwhile, the press service of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Cherkasy Region reported that a russian UAV hit an enterprise in the Uman district, after which a fire broke out there.
Rescuers managed to quickly eliminate the fire.
45 employees of the State Emergency Service and 12 units of equipment were involved in the work.
The consequences of the strike are being clarified.
In turn, the Ukrenergo company reported that 72 settlements in Cherkasy Region were left without electricity due to the attack by russian drones.
"As a result of a night drone attack on a power facility, 72 settlements in the Cherkasy Region were without power in the morning. Specialists of the regional energy company will begin emergency restoration work immediately after receiving the necessary permits from the State Emergency Service," the report says.
According to the mayor of Uman, Iryna Pletniova, energy workers are already working to restore power supply.
"Umanvodokanal is running on generators, water is supplied to homes, sewage systems are working. Umanteplokomunenergo is working to establish the supply of heat to your homes," she wrote on her Facebook page.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Tuesday, January 28, russian troops launched 100 drones over the territory of Ukraine, air defense forces shot down 65 of them, another 28 drones did not reach their targets (lost in location).
