Pentagon confirms Trump's order to halt aid to other countries does not apply to support for Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump's order to halt aid to foreign countries for three months does not apply to military support for Ukraine.

This is reported by Voice of America with reference to the U.S. Department of Defense.

"Security assistance to Ukraine is not subject to the restrictions of the recent order on foreign assistance, as it applies only to development programs, not military support," the Pentagon told reporters.

Thus, contracts for the production of weapons and ammunition for Ukraine, which were issued by the former president's administration under the USAI program, remain valid.

The Pentagon added that Trump's order also does not affect all previously planned and residual supplies of weapons to Ukraine from U.S. Army warehouses under the PDA program.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 21, President Donald Trump signed an order suspending all programs under which the U.S. provided assistance to other countries for 90 days.

The fact that Trump's decree does not affect the provision of military assistance to Ukraine was previously stated by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak and the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.

Recall that in early January this year, the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated that the European Union is ready to lead support for Ukraine if the U.S. does not want to do so after Trump's arrival.
