Lisovyi denies possibility of mobilizing students and teachers

Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi denies the possibility of mobilizing students and teachers through a government resolution.

He wrote about this on his Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"No mobilization of students, postgraduates, scientists, scientific and pedagogical, and pedagogical workers who have the right to a deferral in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Mobilization Training and Mobilization" is envisaged. No discussions and deliberations on this issue are taking place at the government level," he wrote.

According to him, any contradictions that may arise in by-laws or other documents initiated by the executive branch regarding this issue will be resolved in accordance with the current law on mobilization.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Roman Hryshchuk, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, identified significant problems in the new Cabinet of Ministers resolution on the procedure for deferring military service, which came into force on January 16.

According to the MP, two key paragraphs of the resolution raise serious concerns and potentially contradict the law on mobilization. The resolution establishes a limited deferral for students and postgraduates for one semester, but no more than six months, and for academic staff - until the end of the academic year.

Hryshchuk emphasizes that such conditions create significant risks, in particular, uncertainty about the status of teachers in the summer months and the potential possibility of mobilizing students during the holidays.
