Sugar producers in Ukraine completed the 2024 production season, producing 1.8 million tons.
This is announced in a statement by the Ukrsugar Association, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
28 member factories of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) produced 1.72 million tons of sugar.
In addition, production also was carried out by another sugar refinery that is not part of the Association.
According to estimates, the total sugar production in the country amounted to 1.8 million tons.
Thus, the production volume in 2024 is actually equal to the indicators of 2023, when the country produced 1.826 million tons.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September 2024, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food forecasted a decrease in sugar production by 11% to 1.6 million tons in the 2024/2025 marketing year (September 2024 - August 2025) compared to the previous marketing year.
In the 2023/24 marketing year, Ukraine produced about 1.8 million tons of sugar.
On July 2, due to exceeding quotas, the European Union returned duties on Ukrainian eggs and sugar.
