Number of victims of fire in Turkish resort increased to 76

In Turkey, as a result of a fire in a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort, according to updated data, 76 people have been killed.

This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya, Haberturk reports.

Earlier, 66 people were reported killed.

According to the minister, the identities of 52 victims have been established, the bodies of 45 of the deceased have been delivered to their families. The others have not yet been identified.

Nine people, including the hotel owner, have been detained in the case of the fire.

The fire broke out on the night of January 21 in a 12-story wooden hotel in the province of Bolu. Governor Abdulaziz Aydin said that, according to preliminary data, the fire broke out in the restaurant area on the fourth floor and spread to the entire building, at that time 234 guests were staying in the hotel. On the day of the emergency, the hotel was 80-90% full due to the student holidays.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, the investigation is ongoing, January 22 was declared a day of mourning in Turkey.

The Kartalkaya resort is located in the Köroğlu mountains in northwestern Turkey, 270 km from Istanbul.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, an ambulance helicopter crashed into a hospital in the Turkish city of Mugla. As a result, everyone on board the helicopter were killed.
