On January 20, newly elected US President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring all heads of departments and agencies responsible for foreign aid programs to suspend new commitments and payments until an audit of such programs is conducted to ensure their effectiveness and compliance with US foreign policy.
This is reported by sud.ua.
The suspension of payments will take place for 90 days, until the audit is conducted.
As noted in the executive order, "the US foreign aid industry and bureaucracy do not meet American interests and in many cases contradict American values. They serve to destabilize the world order by promoting ideas in other countries that are the direct opposite of harmonious and stable relations within and between countries."
"It is US policy that no further US foreign assistance should be provided in a manner that is not fully consistent with the foreign policy of the US President," the decree emphasized.
As a reminder, the NSDC previously denied that Trump's suspension of US international assistance concerns military aid to Ukraine.
