AFU combat units will receive UAH 2.5 billion per month for purchase of drones – Umerov

Combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive UAH 2.5 billion per month for the purchase of drones.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on his Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Umerov noted that in December, the Ministry of Defense transferred UAH 2.1 billion directly to combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the purchase of drones, which made it possible to quickly meet the needs of brigades and strengthen the diversification of centralized management.

"We analyzed this experience and decided to scale the initiative. Today, the Cabinet of Ministers supported the proposal of the Ministry of Defense. From now on, UAH 2.5 billion will be distributed monthly between brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the purchase of UAVs. Unit commanders will be able to use these funds to purchase precisely those drones that are most effective for performing tasks at the front," he said.

Umerov noted that this is another step towards creating the most flexible system for providing the military with everything necessary to defend Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine wants to set a record for the number of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year in order to stop the enemy's advance.
