Ukrainian seaports up cargo processing by 56.8% to 97.2 million tons in 2024

In 2024, compared to 2023, Ukrainian seaports increased cargo processing by 56.8% to 97.2  million tons (2003 – 62 million tons).

This is stated in a message from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The message states that Ukrainian seaports set a new record in 2024, handling 97.2 million tons of cargo, which indicates the restoration and further development of Ukraine's maritime logistics even in a difficult geopolitical situation.

The basis of cargo turnover during this period was grain - 60.3 million tons and ore cargo - 18.5 million tons.

Grain remains the leading export item, demonstrating the strategic importance of Ukraine as a global agricultural leader.

The Ukrainian Sea Corridor plays a special role in the growth of transshipment, through which 79.9 million tons of cargo were transported in 2024.

Exports via the sea corridor amounted to 76.4 million tons to 52 countries of the world.

In total, 3,138 vessels used this route.

It is noted that the Danube ports played a key role in supporting exports, having transshipped 17.3 million tons of cargo, which emphasizes their strategic importance for the Ukrainian economy in the context of the need to find alternative logistics routes.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in November 2024, compared to November 2023, Ukrainian seaports increased cargo processing by 13.4% to 7.6 million tons.
