Wladimir Klitschko wants to return to ring to become oldest world champion

The promoter of the former world heavyweight champion of Ukraine, Wladimir Klitschko, Tom Loeffler, said that the Ukrainian boxer plans to return to the professional ring.

Loeffler said this in a comment for ESNEWS.

"Wladimir said he would fight for the title to break George Foreman’s record. He is 48 years old now and will turn 49 in March. If anyone can do it, it’s Wladimir," said Loeffler.

Earlier, insiders and the media reported that Wladimir Klitschko wanted to fight against the IBF title holder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO’s), who will fight against Joseph Parker on February 22.

It is worth noting that if Wladimir Klitschko fights and gets the championship title, he will become the oldest world champion in the history of boxing. Currently, this record belongs to the legendary George Foreman, who defeated Michael Moorer in 1994. At that time, Foreman was 45 years old.

Wladimir Klitschko's last fight was 8 years ago, in April 2017. Then the Ukrainian lost to Joshua ahead of schedule.

As previously reported, the absolute world light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (21–0, 20 KO’s), who has both russian and Canadian citizenship, commented on rumors about a possible duel with Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk. Beterbiev said that Usyk is currently too strong for him.
