Svitolina reaches 1/4 finals of Australian Open-2025

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (27) won a convincing victory over russian Veronika Kudermetova (playing under a neutral flag) in the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open. The match ended with a score of 6:4, 6:1.

The game initially did not go in Svitolina's favor - her opponent led 4:1. However, Elina demonstrated a confident game, winning five games in a row and taking the first set. In the second game, the Ukrainian maintained control, dominating the court again. Aggressive serves, approaches to the net and powerful blows allowed her to finish the match with minimal difficulty.

The russian made frequent mistakes, had problems with the first serve (only 43% accuracy) and realized 2 out of 3 break points. Instead, Svitolina served 5 aces, made 3 double faults and converted 5 of 9 break points. The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.

For Svitolina, this was the first victory over Kudermetova in three meetings in her career. Thanks to this success, Elina reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open for the third time and the twelfth time at this stage of the Grand Slam tournaments. Her next opponent will be the winner of the match between Elena Rybakina and Madison Keys.
