Explosion in Kyiv radio station

A munition exploded in the studio of the Army FM radio station in Kyiv, injuring a radio presenter.

This was reported by Suspilne with reference to information from representatives of the radio station on Sunday, January 19.

The publication writes that the munition, which had been in the radio station since 2019, exploded in the studio. The radio presenter required medical assistance and hospitalization. The Kyiv police reported that the Pecherskyi department received information about the explosion, after which an investigative and operational group and explosives technicians were sent to the scene.

"It has been previously established that an army detonator exploded, which was in the premises as an exhibit. A woman born in 1999 was injured as a result of the explosion, she was hospitalized. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives," the report says.

Currently, all circumstances of the incident are being established.

The city Telegram channel Kyiv Operative showed the consequences of the explosion in the studio.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 3, a power bank exploded in an Odesa apartment, resulting in a fire.

In November, a man was killed in an explosion in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv.
