Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the VII-IX convocations was served with suspicion of high treason and violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation and religious beliefs (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the investigation, the former MP, who was in the ranks of the Party of Regions and the Opposition Bloc for a long time, from the beginning of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine in 2014, spread the Kremlin's narratives.
In order to maintain the influence of the russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which supports the armed aggression against the country, the suspect spread the so-called ideology of the "russian world".
With the assistance of the patriarch of the russian federation, he became a curator of the russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Ukraine. The suspect carried out his instructions and instructions in order to ensure that a significant part of Ukrainian society, who are believers of the UOC MP, was under the direct influence of the leader of the ROC.
The MP also used the right of legislative initiative in order to conceal the existence of a church-canonical connection and the entry of the UOC into the structure of the MP of the ROC and to ensure the preservation of the influence of the ROC on the territory of Ukraine.

The suspect gave interviews to the media in which he made statements about other confessions operating in Ukraine, characterizing them in negative terms. Such actions of his were aimed at inciting hatred and enmity on religious grounds.
Before the start of full-scale aggression, he left for the European Union on a charter flight, where he continued to work in the interests of the russian federation.
According to the Ukrainian Pravda website, this is former MP Vadim Novinsky. As is known, Novinsky resigned from his mandate in July 2022.

In January 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy implemented the NSDC decision of January 24 to impose sanctions on former MP Vadim Novinsky and 9 other representatives of the clergy of the ROC and UOC MP.
