German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized Tesla founder and owner of the X social network Elon Musk for his support for far-right political forces in Europe, saying that such activities "endanger democracy."
According to Scholz, Musk openly supports far-right movements in the UK, Germany and other European countries, which, in the opinion of the Chancellor, is completely unacceptable, Politico writes.
"This threatens the democratic development of Europe, our community, and it must be criticized," Scholz emphasized.
Elon Musk has repeatedly expressed support for right-wing politicians and parties. In particular, he publicly supported the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party on the eve of the early federal elections to be held on February 23.
In addition, Musk expressed support for the British Reform UK party, and also remains one of the most active supporters of Donald Trump. This has brought him into the inner circle of the newly elected US President. According to some assumptions, Musk may begin to financially support the British right in the near future.
The German Chancellor emphasized that he does not deny Musk's right to freedom of speech, but considers his actions unacceptable.
"His transition to the far right, whether out of business interests or personal political convictions, is unacceptable," Scholz said.
In response, Elon Musk spoke sharply against the Chancellor. On social networks, he called Scholz a "fool" and predicted that he would "lose" the upcoming federal elections.
