Ukraine and Norwegian Kongsberg plan to integrate Ukrainian air defense systems into NASAMS - Defense Ministry

Ukraine and Norwegian defense company Kongsberg plan to integrate Ukrainian air defense systems into the NASAMS system.

The Ministry of Defense has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In particular, it is reported that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held a meeting with the executive director of the leading Norwegian corporation Kongsberg Gruppen ASA and the president of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Eirik Lee.

"Ukraine is expanding cooperation with the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg. This company already significantly supports Ukraine. It is Kongsberg, together with the American Raytheon, that is participating in the supply of NASAMS air defense systems, which reliably protect our cities from air attacks," Umerov noted.

The parties analyzed the possibilities of integrating domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS system, which will increase its effectiveness.

In addition, they discussed anti-drone systems and the possibility of localizing their production in Ukraine, as well as the development of the Defense Forces' maritime capabilities.

Umerov thanked Kongsberg for its support and willingness to develop cooperation.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on allies to urgently supply Ukraine with at least 20 additional air defense systems such as HAWK, NASAMS, and IRIS-T to strengthen Ukraine's energy stability in the winter.
