The Armed Forces of Ukraine have intensified attacks on tactical command posts and positions of the russian army near the front line. These strikes are aimed at complicating the command and control of the russian troops on the battlefield.
According to the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), such actions of the Ukrainian military can significantly affect the ability of the russian army to effectively conduct military operations, especially in the western part of the Donetsk Region.
The report notes that recent strikes, in particular on the russian command post of the 8th Army Aviation on January 8, are aimed at degrading the logistical capabilities and operational planning of the russian federation: this is likely to complicate russian efforts to organize military actions and manage its operations, ISW analysts note.
According to the Institute, currently:
- The 2nd Army Corps of the russian federation is leading operations south of Pokrovsk,
- The 3rd Army Corps is operating near Chasiv Yar,
- The 8th Army Corps is responsible for the actions of russian troops near Kurakhove.
Such strikes, according to experts, can have a strategic effect, weakening the ability of the russian federation to support its troops on the front line.
As a reminder, on January 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the third command post of the russian federation in the Donetsk Region in less than a week. The defenders delivered a high-precision strike on the command post of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army of the russian federation in Novohrodivka.
