US President Joseph Biden said that he hopes that Congress will maintain support for Ukraine after Donald Trump becomes the head of state again.
He said this on Friday, January 10 (Washington time, - ed.), during a speech broadcast by the CNBC channel.
"I hope and expect that Democrats and Republicans in Congress, who consider it necessary to continue supporting Ukraine, will express their opinion and disagree with the (new, - ed.) President if Trump decides to stop funding for Ukraine," Biden stressed.
He added that there are "a significant number" of representatives of both parties in Congress who are ready to support Ukraine.
Biden also said that Ukraine can win the war with russia if the United States and its allies in Western Europe maintain unity in issues of military and economic assistance to Kyiv. The President noted that vladimir putin is in a "difficult situation", and it is important not to give him room for maneuver.
"The price of war for russia is incredibly high. More than 600,000 killed and wounded military personnel. In addition, the North Koreans, whom russia has drawn into the war, are also suffering huge losses," the American head of state added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Joseph Biden earlier had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the conversation, the supply of weapons to Ukraine and new anti-russian sanctions were discussed.
Biden assured Zelenskyy of continued military support from the United States, and the Ukrainian leader expressed gratitude for the introduction of new restrictions against the russian fuel and energy complex and spoke about Ukraine's further plans on the battlefield.
