British Prime Minister to visit Ukraine soon to discuss peacekeeping deployment - Bloomberg

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to visit Ukraine in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility of deploying international peacekeeping forces there after the end of russian aggression.

This was reported by Bloomberg on Friday, January 10.

Starmer's visit to Kyiv is expected in the coming weeks, as the return of the newly elected US President Donald Trump to office is approaching.

"Keir Starmer will visit Ukraine in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility of deploying international peacekeeping forces there after the end of the conflict with russia (the war of the aggressor country of russia against Ukraine, - ed.). This is his first visit to the war-torn country since he became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom six months ago," the material says.

The publication writes that Starmer discussed the possibility of a joint deployment of peacekeeping forces to Ukraine with French President Emmanuel Macron, but it will depend on the peace agreement concluded between Ukraine and the russian federation. The peacekeeping mission may appear at a later stage of the negotiations only after a ceasefire in order to avoid any risk of escalation, Bloomberg notes.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 25, the French publication Le Monde wrote, citing an unnamed British official, that Paris and London had resumed discussions on the scenario of sending their armed forces to Ukraine.

On December 7, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated that he considered it premature to talk about the hypothetical participation of German military personnel in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

On December 9, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the possibility of ending the war.
