The US has imposed sanctions targeting russia's main source of revenue with sanctions against Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz, more than 180 vessels, as well as dozens of oil traders, oilfield service providers, insurance companies and energy officials.
This was announced in a statement by the US Department of the Treasury, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The United Kingdom (Great Britain) is also taking action today, joining the Department of the Treasury in imposing sanctions on two major russian oil producers.
In particular, sanctions were imposed on the companies Ingosstrakh and Alfastrakhovanie; Sovcomflot, etc., Gazpromneft, Surgutneftegaz, Deputy Ministers of Energy of the russian federation Roman Marshavin and Eduard Sheremetsev, son of Lukoil co-owner Vagit Alekperov.
A number of russian coal companies were also added to the sanctions lists, including Kuzbassrazrezugol, Russkiy ugol, Krasnoyarskkrayugol and others.
In addition, it is noted that from February 27, the United States prohibits its companies from providing oilfield services to the russian federation.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Chinese company Shandong Port Group, which is one of the largest port operators in the country, has banned tankers of the global "shadow fleet" that were previously subject to US sanctions from entering its ports. These tankers transport oil from russia, Iran and Venezuela.
The day before, it became known that the US leadership is preparing sanctions against several dozen tankers involved in the transportation of russian oil.
Recall that on December 17, the British government imposed sanctions against another 20 tankers from the so-called "shadow fleet" of russia.
