In 2024, Zaporizhstal ups steel production by 16% to 2.9 million tons

In 2024, compared to 2023, the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant increased steel production by 16% to 2.9 million tons.

This is announced in the company's statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In 2024, Zaporizhstal increased pig iron production by 14.8% to 3.1 million tons and rolled steel shipments by 20% to 2.4 million tons.

In December 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, the company increased pig iron production by 7.2% to 284,700 tons, steel production by 7.4% to 245,500 tons, rolled steel shipments by 13.4% to 234,100 tons.

The report states that the increase in production volumes in 2024 compared to 2023 is due to an increase in blast furnace productivity, increased demand for commodity pig iron and partial restoration of the export route of sea transportation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2023 compared to 2022, the plant increased steel production by 65.4% to 2.5 million tons, pig iron - by 35.3% to 2.7 million tons, and rolled steel - by 57.2% to 2.05 million tons.

In September 2024, compared to September 2023, the joint venture of the Metinvest Group, the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant, reduced steel production by 17.6% to 203,000 tons.

The main shareholders of the Metinvest Group are SCM (71.24%) and the Smart Holding Group (23.76%), which participate in the management of Metinvest on a partnership basis.

100% of SCM shares belong to businessman Rinat Akhmetov, Smart Holding is controlled by Vadim Novinsky.
