Thus, intelligence noted that on January 5, 2025, Ukraine conducted a limited armored counterattack against russian troops in the Kursk Oblast of russia, while Ukraine continues to defend a section of territory in the Kursk russia from constant attacks by russian and North Korean forces.
"Despite significant losses, in recent weeks Russia has only been able to advance slightly into the territory held by Ukraine," the intelligence noted.
Meanwhile, in the east of Ukraine, russia continues to focus attacks on the central part of the Donetsk Region.
"Russian troops have almost completely captured the city of Kurakhove. Russia began its offensive on the city in mid-November 2024. South of Pokrovsk, Russian troops advanced westward, capturing several villages and taking up positions 4 km south of the city. The central part of the Donetsk Region remains the most unstable section of the front in the east of Ukraine," the report says.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, reported that an important military facility was attacked in Kursk, Russia, publishing a video that appeared online on January 5.
Meanwhile, on January 8, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the command post of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army of the russian federation in the Donetsk Region. The building was used to coordinate attacks against the Armed Forces of Ukraine and civilians, including residents of Kurakhove.
