The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs for European Integration Ruslana Velychko-Tryfoniuk after a scandal involving the humiliation of a former serviceman.
The relevant order No. 11 dated January 7 was published on the Cabinet website, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to the order, Velychko-Tryfoniuk was dismissed at her own request.
The dismissal was preceded by a scandal involving the humiliation of former serviceman Yevhen Shybalov by the leadership of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs.
Shybalov held the position of Head of the Department of European Integration and International Cooperation, but later resigned due to humiliation by the leadership, which he reported on Facebook.
The Ministry for Veterans Affairs reported on its Facebook page that on January 6, information was published on social networks and in the media regarding unethical behavior towards a civil servant in the Ministry for Veterans Affairs.
"The Ministry categorically condemns behavior that degrades the honor and dignity of a war veteran or any person, regardless of age, gender, nationality, social status, etc., and no circumstances can be an excuse. Every employer, regardless of the form of ownership, must create appropriate conditions for the reintegration of a veteran in the workplace," the message said.
The Ministry reported that the leadership of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs has appointed an internal audit to identify the facts and circumstances indicated in the published information, and that documents have been sent to the Cabinet of Ministers for the dismissal of Ruslana Velychko-Tryfoniuk from the position of Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs for European Integration.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Velychko-Tryfoniuk Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for European Integration in June 2024.
Prior to that (since March 2022), she was the First Deputy Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund.
On September 5, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Deputy Defense Minister Rustem Umerov Natalia Kalmykova as Minister for Veterans.
