After the moratorium on the alienation of agricultural land was lifted, since July 2021, only 3.4% of such plots have been sold.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Thus, the total area of the lands covered by the moratorium is 17.5 million hectares.
From July 1, 2021 to December 31, 2024, only 604,000 hectares (198,337 plots) were sold.
During 2024, 106,669 land plots with a total area of 320,660 hectares were sold, the average cost of 1 hectare was UAH 46,678 (USD 1,163).
"Therefore, we can say that despite the opening of the land market, in 3.5 years only a small percentage of citizens have exercised the right to alienate their land plots. Although in 2024 the volume of land sold is greater than in the first 2.5 years after the moratorium was lifted," noted the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval.
Since the moratorium was lifted, legal entities have purchased 25,157 plots (78,307 hectares), the average price of 1 hectare is UAH 62,656 (USD 1,561), individuals have purchased 81,512 plots (242,353 hectares), the average price of 1 hectare is UAH 41,510 (USD 1,034).
The largest areas in 2024 were sold in the Poltava (45,622 ha), Odesa (33,024 ha) and Dnipropetrovsk (30,623 ha) Regions.
The smallest areas were sold in the Volyn (818 ha), Rivne (909 ha) and Ivano-Frankivsk (1,094 ha) Regions.
The highest average price was recorded in the Ivano-Frankivsk (UAH 89,744), Lviv (UAH 71,390) and Poltava (UAH 66,232) Regions.
The lowest average price was in the Zaporizhzhia (UAH 33,981), Mykolaiv (UAH 34,033) and Sumy (UAH 34,936) Regions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 1, 2021, a law came into force that provides for the lifting of the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land.
