Air defense forces shoot down 41 enemy UAVs, 22 more lost in location – Air Forces

On the night of Wednesday, January 8, russian invaders attacked Ukraine with 64 Shahed attack UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

This is indicated in a statement by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As reported, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.

As of 09:00 a.m., it was confirmed that 41 Shahed attack UAVs and drones of other types were shot down in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Kirovohrad Regions.

22 enemy drones-simulators were lost in location (without negative consequences), three of them flew towards russia, one – to Belarus.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of January 8, the aggressor country russia once again attacked the Kyiv Region using strike UAVs. Air defense was working, enemy targets were shot down. The air alert in the Kyiv Region lasted 7 hours.

There were no casualties among the population. No hits were recorded on critical or residential infrastructure. As a result of the fall of fragments of a shot down target in one of the settlements, damage was recorded to a private house and a fence.
