Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the Kristal oil product storage base in Engels, Saratov Oblast (russia) last night.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Numerous explosions were recorded in the area of the target, a large-scale fire broke out. Local authorities confirm the hit on an "industrial facility," the report says.

The General Staff notes that this oil depot provided fuel to the Engels-2 military airfield, where the enemy's strategic aviation is based.

More detailed information on the results of the combat operation is being clarified.

The task was carried out by units of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces.

The General Staff notes that the destruction of the oil depot creates serious logistical problems for the strategic aviation of the russian occupiers and significantly reduces their ability to strike at peaceful Ukrainian cities and civilian objects.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a command post of the army of the aggressor country russia in the village of Maryino in the Kursk Oblast.
