Ukrainian military tell how fighting for Kurakhove goes

The town of Kurakhove in the Donetsk Region has been almost completely captured by the russians, but fighting continues on the western outskirts of the town.

This was reported by Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic troops group (OSTG) on the air of the United News telethon.

"At the moment, the situation in Kurakhove is really quite difficult, because a significant part of the town has been destroyed. Ukrainian troops are holding on to the western part of the town, on its western outskirts, in particular, they are holding on to the thermal power plant located in the town," Trehubov said.

According to him, the russian tactic is to destroy all the buildings so that the town's defenders have nowhere to hide and are forced to retreat.

"When a town is completely destroyed, there is simply nowhere to hold defenses, because there are actually no fortifications. Any building is a fortification. If there is no building, if there is simply scorched earth, then it is impossible to hold defenses there, because there is nowhere to hold them," the spokesman for Khortytsia emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, analysts of the Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState claim that the russian occupation army has advanced near three settlements in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove Axes.

Ukrainian journalist, editor-in-chief of Censor.NET Yurii Butusov believes that further defense of the industrial zone in the western part of the town of Kurakhove, Donetsk Region, makes no sense, as it will lead to significant losses among the servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
