According to his family, 26-year-old Jordan Maclachlan from Scotland was killed last Friday while performing a combat mission on the frontline, where he served as a military medic in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, BBC News writes.
Maclachlan joined Ukraine immediately after the full-scale russian invasion in February 2022 and soon joined the Ukrainian army.
"Jordan always believed that he was doing an important job, and we are all extremely proud that he helped others," the statement from the deceased's family reads.
The family is currently awaiting additional information from the British Foreign Office, as the details of the volunteer's death are currently unknown.
"Jordan was a cheerful son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him," the deceased's relatives added.
A representative of the British Foreign Office confirmed the death of a British citizen in Ukraine and said that the department is in contact with the family of the deceased and local authorities.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, several Scots have joined the defense of Ukraine. Among them are 35-year-old mechanic Adam Ennis from Biggar, who was recognized as a hero in Ukraine, and 45-year-old paramedic Jonathan Shenkin from Glasgow, who was killed in December 2022, performing a heroic act while rescuing the wounded.
As previously reported, a well-known neurobiologist Ihor Zyma was killed as a result of a russian UAV attack on Kyiv on New Year's Eve.
