A new law on mandatory car insurance came into effect in Ukraine on January 1, 2025. Now, speed cameras can impose fines for lack of insurance, in addition to sanctions for speeding and driving in designated public transport lanes, the Wheel portal reports.
It is noted that not the driver will be assigned a fine, but the car owner. The penalty for lack of insurance remains the same at UAH 425.
It is reported that over the past four years, the cameras have already issued fines worth more than UAH 2.1 billion.
