Thus, it is reported that in the morning a section of the Astana - Petropavlovsk highway of republican significance was closed due to worsening weather conditions. After improving weather conditions and clearing the road at 12:30 p.m. (local time), movement towards Shchuchinsk was organized under the escort of police officers and special equipment.
"However, according to preliminary data, due to drivers' failure to comply with the speed limit and safe distance at 1:28 p.m. on the 153rd kilometer of the highway, near the village of Zhanatalap, a mass collision involving approximately 95 cars occurred," KazAvtoZhol reported.
The accident injured 20 people, including eight children.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in late December, five people, including two minors, were killed in a large-scale accident involving a passenger car and a truck in the village of Nastashyne in the Ivano-Frankivsk Region.
