Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak noted that, in his opinion, Vladimir Vysotsky [Soviet singer-songwriter and poet - ed.] is absolutely undeservedly called an imperialist, but in fact he had an anti-communist position.
The politician stated this in an interview with the Vlast vs Vlashchenko channel.
"Of course, he [Vysotsky - ed.] was absolutely undeservedly called an imperialist, rather he was a person with anti-communist morality, which led him to certain difficult consequences," said Mykhailo Podoliak, adding that Vysotsky had an anti-war position.
But, according to Podoliak, the problem is that Vysotsky is a fundamental person for russian and Soviet mass culture, and his image was used in propaganda. At the same time, Natalia Vlashchenko asked Podoliak whether it was necessary to ban Ukrainian writers who glorified the communist regime in their works during the Soviet era, to which Podoliak replied that this was different.
As previously reported, the day before, a monument to the Soviet actor and singer Vladimir Vysotsky was dismantled from the facade of the Odesa Film Studio.
