The russian occupation forces in the Donetsk Region are not storming Pokrovsk directly, but are trying to bypass the city and surround it.
This was stated by the spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic troops group, Major Viktor Trehubov, on the air of the national telethon, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"There are no urban battles in the city, the russians have not reached the city limits, but they are trying to capture it through neighboring settlements, villages, penetrate in one or another group, accumulate and continue to fight in such a way as to bypass the city. Plus - the active action of UAVs, the active action of everything that the russians have now, is also concentrated in the area of the city of Pokrovsk," he said.
According to Trehubov, the enemy does not want to storm the city, since it is quite large and fortified, especially since he is engaged in urban battles in other directions: in Chasiv Yar and Kurakhove, and instead is trying to bypass the city and break the infrastructure chains.
The spokesman for the Khortytsia OSTG also stressed that the Pokrovsk Axis one of the hottest at the moment.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 1, 140 combat clashes took place at the front, with the Pokrovsk Axis being the hottest, with 38 clashes taking place in a day.
