Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanks Ukrainians for 2024 in his New Year's Eve

In his 20-minute New Year's address, recorded against the backdrop of the Motherland monument, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Ukrainians for 2024 and stressed the importance of achieving a just peace. The video of the address was published on the website of the President of Ukraine.

The head of state noted the successes in the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war, noting that 1,358 people were returned during the year, and a total of 3,956 Ukrainians since the beginning of the war. He separately mentioned the last exchange, when 189 defenders returned home on New Year's Eve.

Zelenskyy emphasized achievements in the field of weapons production, noting that 30% of all weapons on the battlefield in 2024 were manufactured in Ukraine. According to him, for the first time the country produced more than a million drones in a year.

The President stressed the importance of international support, mentioning the assistance of the United States and European partners. He expressed confidence that the new American president "wants and will be able to bring peace and put an end to putin's aggression."

Speaking about the future, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine's path to the EU became irreversible after the start of accession negotiations in June 2024. He also expressed his belief that Ukraine will eventually become a member of NATO.

"Let 2025 be our year, the year of Ukraine. We know that peace will not be given to us. But we will do everything to stop russia and end the war," the President concluded.
