Over the past week, the DPRK has lost 1,000 soldiers fighting in the russian army.
The coordinator for strategic communications of the National Security Council at the White House, John Kirby stated this, journalist Kellie Meyer reports on X.
According to U.S. data, North Korean troops are attacking Ukrainian positions in the Kursk Oblast, which is leading to heavy losses.
"It is clear that Russian and NK military leaders are treating these troops as expendable. These NK soldiers appear to be highly indoctrinated. We have reports of NK soldiers taking their own lives," Kirby said, as quoted by Kellie Meyer.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, South Korean intelligence confirmed the capture of a North Korean soldier by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, he died due to aggravation of his wounds.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the DPRK may send new soldiers and equipment to russia.
In addition, North Korean troops are setting up additional observation posts using Ukrainian drones.
