UAH 294.2 million has been spent on the maintenance of russian prisoners of war since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
It was reported by the Accounting Chamber.
"From March 2022 to June 2024, the Ministry of Justice created 4 camps for the detention of prisoners of war and additionally organized their accommodation, security and medical support in more than fifty departments created in penal institutions. UAH 294.2 million has been directly allocated for these purposes," the report says.
It is noted that significant support for ensuring proper conditions for the detention of prisoners was provided by charitable organizations and foreign partners, in particular the International Committee of the Red Cross.
"Ukraine provides Russian prisoners of war with security, proper accommodation, medical care, the right to work and other humanitarian rights guaranteed by the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War," the press service added.
