The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi plans to increase the duration of basic general military training to 2 months.
Syrskyi announced this on his Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"We are currently working to create conditions so that preparation for participation in combat operations lasts 2 months in total. After all, high-quality training is, first of all, the preservation of the lives and health of our soldiers," he said.
Syrskyi noted that in accordance with the decisions he made earlier, there are already the first graduates of military personnel who underwent basic general military training for 1.5 months - instead of the previous 30-day training.
He added that the further course of a novice in a military unit is scheduled for 5-14 days.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in October Syrskyi announced that in December he would make a decision on a new model of basic general military training.
In November, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the new Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Apostol, would be responsible for improving the training of the Ukrainian military.
