Russia wants to seize bridgehead on right bank of Dnieper – spokesman for Southern Defense Forces

Russian troops probably want to seize a bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper to transfer firepower there, which would reach Kherson.

The spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn announced this on Radio Svoboda.

According to him, five to seven assaults are carried out daily on the Dnieper axis by small infantry groups.

"The enemy has now activated such assaults on the Kozatskyi Island, and for several days in a row it has been trying to land on the Velykyi Potiomkin Island, and before that it tried to land in the south on the Zabych Island. And two weeks before that it carried out such actions in the area of ​​Antonivskyi Bridges. That is, the enemy is looking for, probing our defense: where there are weak points, trying to determine where our firepower is, trying to see how the defense system is located, where the fire positions are," says Voloshyn.

However, this cannot be called an attempt to launch a major assault or force the Dnieper.

"This is not done by such groups. This is done by much larger forces, but it is very difficult to hide larger forces with modern reconnaissance equipment. In order to transport armored vehicles, somehow transfer them to the other side of the Dnieper, you need means... Building a pontoon crossing means at least a kilometer-long bridge. This is a large number of these vehicles that carry pontoons, it is difficult to hide them. Storming with only one infantry on some boats or motor boats, you understand, this is, roughly speaking, not serious. These are a few volleys of cluster munitions - and they feed the fish."

Head of the Internal and Information Policy Department of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Tolokonnikov says that even if the information about the possible attack of russian troops on Kherson turns out to be true, it will be suicide for the russian forces.

Recall that on December 20, the russians tried to land sabotage and reconnaissance groups in the area of Kherson on the right-bank part of the Kherson Region.
