Ivan Rudyi, the head of the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (Gambling Commission, CRGL) was arrested without bail.
The State Bureau of Investigation has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv elected a preventive measure in the form of detention for the head of the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries.
Earlier, on December 18, 2024, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained the head of the CRGL on suspicion of aiding an aggressor state, as well as of illegal possession of narcotic drugs in large quantities without the purpose of sale (Articles 111-2 and 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In particular, this concerns supporting the activities of an online casino in Ukraine, the owners of which are russians.
During the pre-trial investigation of the State Bureau of Investigation, it was established that the institution headed by him issued and, on his instructions, deliberately failed to take action to revoke the license for organizing gambling on the Internet from a commercial structure whose beneficial owner is russians, and whose representatives assisted the aggressor state.
No decision was made, even despite numerous examinations that confirmed that the activities of online casinos threaten national security. In particular, the data of the Ukrainian military, who were customers of the casino, could easily have fallen into the hands of the russians.
During searches, a large amount of cocaine was found and seized from the head of the CRGL.
He was informed of suspicion under Articles 111-2 and 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (in aiding the aggressor state, as well as in illegal storage of narcotic drugs in large quantities, without the purpose of sale).
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, 100 grams of cocaine was found in the possession of the head of the Gambling Commission.
