Novoshakhtinsk Refinery shut down due to drone attack

The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery in the Rostov Oblast has shut down operations due to drone attacks. This refinery is the largest in southern russia.

This is reported by The Moscow Times.

Previously, the Novoshakhtinsk Refinery could process 5.6 million tons of oil per year.

On the night of December 19, it was attacked by unknown drones. A fire broke out, which damaged the AVT-2.5-2 unit with a capacity of 7,140 tons per day. Without this unit, the refinery cannot operate.

Due to the fire, as well as damage to the tank with oil products, the plant had to be urgently shut down.

What is known about attack on Novoshakhtinsk Refinery

The refinery serves, in particular, the needs of the russian army.

The attack occurred on the night of December 19. Local authorities confirmed that air defense is operating in the city and that the fire at the plant started as a result of the attack.

As a reminder, on the night of December 13-14, explosions were heard in the russian city of Oryol and in the city of Zheleznogorsk in the Kursk Oblast. Strong explosions were heard in both locations, and after the flights arrived, a fire broke out at an oil depot near Oryol.
