Ukraine can be ahead of US in canceling daylight saving time – Stefanchuk

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk believes that Ukraine can set a trend for canceling the transfer of clocks for daylight saving time, ahead of the United States.

He said this at a briefing, answering a question of the Ukrainian News agency.

"You know very well that President Trump, the newly elected, one of his first initiatives will also be the cancellation of daylight saving time, because this is an absolutely senseless initiative, according to him. And I really hope that this is the first, one of the first cases when Ukraine has set a trend for the whole world, being the first to vote on this law, and the United States is already following us," he said regarding the cancellation of daylight saving time.

Stefanchuk hopes that the fact cited in the quote "will encourage everyone to make the right decisions" regarding the unsigned bill.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, believes that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will sign a bill to abolish daylight saving time in Ukraine.

BBC Ukraine, citing sources in the presidential team, reports that Zelenskyy does not plan to sign the bill "On the Calculation of Time", which abolishes further seasonal clock transfers after the transition to winter time.

Stefanchuk reported that after the abolition of daylight saving time, Ukraine will never again live in the same time zone as the aggressor country, russia.

Ukraine switched to daylight saving time on the night of March 31, moving its clocks forward 1 hour.
