Rheinmetall to supply Ukraine with 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, order to be financed by German government

The German defense concern Rheinmetall has received an order to supply Ukraine with 20 Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). The order is financed by the German government.

This is stated in a message on the Rheinmetall website.

"In December 2024, Rheinmetall received an order to supply Ukraine with another 20 Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles. Delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2025. The delivery will be financed by Germany," the concern reported.

Rheinmetall said that in the 1A3 version, the combat vehicle is equipped with an additional laser rangefinder for effective and accurate target engagement.

The first 20 vehicles of this modification were delivered by Rheinmetall by order of the German government in March 2023.

It is noted that in the spring of 2022, the concern began a major overhaul of the Marder infantry fighting vehicles from its own reserves at its own expense. Since then, the combat vehicles have been constantly repaired and supplied for immediate deployment.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early November, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Rheinmetall was completing the construction of a second plant in Ukraine.

As we will recall, in August, Ukraine ordered eight advanced surgical stations from Rheinmetall for the Ukrainian army.
