The growth in purchase prices for raw milk has slowed down, and it is not expected that prices will continue to grow. Instead, more butter produced outside Ukraine will appear on the Ukrainian market.
This was stated by the analyst of the Milk Producers Association Heorhii Kukhaleyshvili.
According to him, the average purchase price of extra-grade milk as of mid-December is UAH 19.70 per kg excluding VAT, which is 65 kopecks more than a month ago. The highest grade costs an average of UAH 18.70 per kg excluding VAT (+30 kopecks). The average price of first-grade milk is UAH 17.65 per kg excluding VAT.
The demand for raw milk and finished milk is higher than the supply, so prices have been growing. But with the New Year holidays approaching in Europe, the dairy market is freezing, so prices will stop creeping up.
The expert adds that farms are giving less and less milk for processing, and producers are not ready to buy raw materials at high prices. Therefore, it is predicted that at the current price of raw milk, dairy farmers will start importing butter from abroad. This will stop the growth of raw milk prices.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of November 1, there was an increase in purchase prices for milk against the background of a shortage of raw milk in Ukraine and demand from dairy processing enterprises.
