Mudryk confirms positive doping test

The player of the Ukrainian national team and the London football club Chelsea Mykhailo Mudryk confirmed the information about the positive result of the test for banned substances.

The football player wrote about this on his Instagram page.

"I can confirm that I was notified that the sample I provided to the FA contained a banned substance. This came as a complete shock, as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or violated any rules, and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened," said Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Ukrainian added that he cannot say more now due to certain restrictions, but notes that he will make a corresponding statement later.

"I know that I have done nothing wrong, and I hope to return to the field soon. I cannot say anything now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will say as soon as I can," the football player wrote.

The information was also confirmed by the club.

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that the Football Association has recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk regarding a positive result from a routine urine test. Both the club and Mykhailo fully support the English Football Association's testing program and all of our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested. Mykhailo has categorically confirmed that he has never knowingly taken any prohibited substances. Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what led to the adverse finding," the club said in a statement.

As previously reported, the player faces a ban of up to 4 years for doping.
