Ukrainian gunsmiths have increased the firepower of the American M113 tracked armored personnel carrier, which the Defense Forces receive as part of international assistance.
The Ministry of Defense announced this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, Ukrainian gunsmiths have manufactured a remotely controlled Tavria 14.5/7.62 module and installed it on the armor of this armored personnel carrier.
"Now, thanks to the new module, which consists of two 14.5 and 7.62 mm machine guns, the machine gunner fires from the middle of the armored vehicle, observing the battlefield through a monitor," said Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov.
Previously, the main armament of the M113 was a 12.7 mm machine gun, the machine gunner worked on targets from a poorly protected position on the armor.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in November, the Ministry of Defense admitted the domestically produced Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
