President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has visited one of the divisions of the 27th Petro Kalnyshevskyi Rocket Artillery Brigade on the Zaporizhzhia axis, inspected the equipment, heard a report and awarded the soldiers with state awards.
The Office of the President has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
It is noted that this brigade was the first in Ukraine to receive HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and is currently providing artillery support for the defense of the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk Regions.
Zelenskyy heard a report by the commander of the Tavria Operational-Strategic Group of Troops Hennadii Shapovalov on the operations carried out, in particular with the use of long-range weapons, the features of the use of HIMARS systems and the dynamics of the supply of ammunition to them.
Zelenskyy congratulated the defenders on the Day of the Ground Forces and the recent Day of the Missile Forces and Artillery and awarded them with state awards.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Day of the Ground Forces is celebrated in Ukraine every year on December 12, it was established by a presidential decree dated October 18, 1997.
Earlier, the RBC-Ukraine agency, citing its own sources, reported that the russian occupation army had not abandoned plans to attack Zaporizhzhia, which is located approximately 30 kilometers from the front line.
The Economist also reported that, according to the publication, Ukrainian intelligence believes that the russian army is preparing to attack Zaporizhzhia.
