Former senior sergeant of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade ‘Magura’ Valerii Markus has accused the leadership of the brigade, in particular the current deputy brigade commander Ivan Shalamaha, of incompetence and indifference to the state of affairs in the brigade.
Markus spoke about this on his YouTube channel.
According to him, Shalamaha offered Markus to become the brigade's senior sergeant "for mercantile reasons", and in the future was not interested in the problems of the military, was present at the selection of military personnel only on the first day. Markus noted that the brigade was proposed to be staffed with men forcibly delivered to territorial recruitment and social support centers, which contradicts the values of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
"We were forced to do poor-quality work, indiscriminately. We were the first in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to start recruiting through interviews, in some units of the 30th brigade the task was to collect the most problematic people and send them to Markus," the soldier said.
Markus also stated that due to Shalamaha's actions during the defense of the Vuhlehirska CHPP in the Donetsk Region, the existence of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade, created in April 2022, almost ceased. In his opinion, a large number of fighters died due to Shalamaha's actions.
"In short, Ivan Mykhailovych Shalamaha is the result of the collective work of many people. We invented Ivan Mykhailovych Shalamaha and his exploits," Markus emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in July 2023, Valerii Markus, the chief sergeant of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ‘Magura’, filed a report in which he asked to be demoted due to the actions of the brigade command, which do not allow the military unit to be built in accordance with the values declared by the fighters.
