Survey shows growing demand for elections in Ukraine - media

According to the results of a sociological survey, 20.4% of Ukrainians are in favor of holding elections under any circumstances and as soon as possible.

Interfax-Ukraine announced this in a report from a press conference held at the agency.

In total, 54.3% of respondents believe that elections can be held during wartime (under certain conditions). Compared to the previous survey, public demand for elections in Ukraine has increased by 3.3%.

To the question "Which government bodies should be re-elected in the near future?", the absolute majority of respondents answered that it is the Verkhovna Rada (77.8%). The second and third places are occupied by elections of local councils (54.8%) and local mayors (50.6%). 49.2% of respondents believe that the President of Ukraine should be re-elected in the near future. In general, the readiness of Ukrainians for elections is 81.1%.

"The desire of our citizens to change the government continues to grow. It is not surprising that they most want to re-elect the Verkhovna Rada, which continues to demonstrate its incapacity. The indicator of the President's re-election is also symptomatic - it has a clear upward trend. This is the result of the worsening situation at the front, growing social stratification and problems in the economy, for which the people largely place the responsibility on the first person of the country. In addition, Trump's recent statements most likely indicate that he is determined to stop the acute phase of the war in one way or another. And therefore, elections are not far off. And the demand for them is clearly visible among Ukrainians," the executive director of the research and analytical group InfoLight.UA, Yurii Honcharenko, comments on these results.

The survey also showed that the highest trust rating in Ukrainian society is Valerii Zaluzhnyi (70.9%) and Kyrylo Budanov (63.3%). The founder of Active Group, Andrii Yeremenko, drew attention to the fact that compared to the data of the survey conducted in October, trust in Zaluzhnyi has decreased by almost 5% (from 75.9% to 71.0%). At the same time, the trust indicator in Budanov has almost not changed (from 64.0% to 63.3%).

In third place in terms of trust rating is the current President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy (44.8%).

Only Valerii Zaluzhnyi (51%) and Kyrylo Budanov (39.9%) have a large positive difference between the trust and distrust indicators. For Volodymyr Zelenskyy, it is almost zero (0.2%). At the same time, people who have been in the political arena for a long time have very high anti-ratings and a negative balance of trust and distrust. In particular, for Yuliya Tymoshenko it is -66.6%, for Petro Poroshenko - -50.3%, for Vitali Klitschko - -34.7%.

"The attitude of Ukrainians towards the "old" political figures has long been predominantly negative - this is a direct consequence of their previous activities. There is a significant demand in society for new politicians, whom Ukrainians today see primarily in the military. The data of the study have once again confirmed this. According to various sociological surveys, the highest trust ratings are consistently enjoyed by Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Kyrylo Budanov," says Ihor Reiterovych, head of political and legal programs at the Ukrainian Center for Social Development.
