The decision to grant asylum to Bashar al-Assad and his family was made by the president of the terrorist country of russia, vladimir putin.
This was announced by the spokesman for the russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov, on December 9.
In particular, according to Peskov, the decision to grant asylum to Assad and his family was made by putin himself. But the russian president's official schedule allegedly does not include a meeting with Assad yet, Peskov said.
At the same time, he did not answer the question of when putin last saw and communicated with former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Peskov also did not disclose details of Assad's exact location. According to him, russia "will analyze the situation in Syria."
On November 27, 2024, Syrian opposition groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a large-scale offensive in the Aleppo province in northwestern Syria.
Within a few days, the opposition groups established control over a dozen settlements. Later, they captured Aleppo, one of the largest cities in the country.
The opposition groups continue their offensive in the south. The day before, it became known that the city of Hama had come under their control, after which they continued their movement in the south.
The offensive by the opposition groups led to the fact that the aggressor country of russia was forced to evacuate warships from the port in the city of Tartus in western Syria.
