iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest in history - Bloomberg

In 2025, Apple will introduce a new, thinner iPhone model that will complement the iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max line. The iPhone 17 "Air" will be about two millimeters thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro, Bloomberg reports.

The thickness of the iPhone 17 Air will be about 6.25 mm. The model will be the thinnest smartphone in Apple's history. The record currently belongs to the iPhone 6 with a thickness of 6.9 mm. Starting with the iPhone X, Apple smartphones have become slightly thicker due to a larger battery, improved cameras and additional sensors such as Face ID.

Apple will equip the iPhone 17 Air with its own 5G modem, which will be more compact than similar chips from Qualcomm. The publication also notes that Apple has focused on deeper integration of this chip with other components of its own design to save space inside the iPhone. This has allowed the company to create a thinner smartphone without sacrificing camera quality, display, or battery life.

The iPhone 17 Air will be one of three devices that will receive a modem from Apple in 2025. In addition, the company plans to introduce the chip in the next iPhone SE and in an inexpensive iPad model.

In addition, Bloomberg predicts that Apple continues to improve the design of its smartphones, which may pave the way for new form factors such as foldable iPhones.

The presentation of smartphones from the iPhone 17 line is scheduled to take place in September 2025.

As previously reported, in September this year, Apple presented the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
