The Verkhovna Rada does not have any legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age. Similar statements that have been heard recently in the public space are manipulation and speculation.
Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, stated this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
"No legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age from 25 to 18 or to 20 years old - neither in the parliament in general, nor in the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada on national security, defense and intelligence in particular - are being considered," he noted.
The MP emphasized that no ideas are being considered regarding the forced mobilization of women who are subject to military service or will become subject to it after voluntarily completing basic military service.
"All other statements, including those regarding the forced mobilization of 18-24-year-olds after they complete basic military service, are manipulations and speculation. Including from some of our colleagues," Venislavskyi added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, some representatives of the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden believe that Ukraine should lower the mobilization age from 25 to 18.
On October 18, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there will be no lowering of the mobilization age in Ukraine.
