There have been more cases of Ukrainian prisoners of war being shot by russian soldiers at the front. The soldiers laid down their weapons, the fighting was stopped.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported this on TV.
"Such cases have indeed increased, and legally we must interpret this as the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian soldiers. Because according to the Geneva Convention, we record that Ukrainian soldiers fulfilled all the conditions to be considered prisoners of war. They laid down their weapons, they showed that they were no longer continuing hostilities. As a rule, the Russians put them on the ground and then shoot them at close range. Therefore, legally it sounds like the Russians are committing serious war crimes," Lubinets said.
He also noted that previously the information came mostly from intelligence, but now, thanks to drones, videos of these crimes are being recorded more often.
Lubinets explained that sometimes they decide to release videos of russian crimes so that the international community can once again understand who Ukraine is fighting. According to him, for russians, human life has no value, and the rules of warfare and the Geneva Conventions do not exist for them.
